Daybeds

A daybed is a piece of furniture that doubles as a couch and a bed. That in itself is a convenient and space-saving piece that makes a good addition to any home. But what makes a daybed more adaptable is when it comes with a trundle. The word trundle, by definition, pertains to motion or moving. So, daybed trundles are movable attachments that are stowed under daybeds that can be taken out to complement the existing furniture. There are two types of daybed trundles that accompany a daybed and each enhances it in a different way.

One kind of daybed trundle is the drawer kind. Drawer daybed trundles are simply drawers that you pull out from under the daybed – hence, the name. Now, a trundle drawer can work as a storage space or, when laid with a mattress, an extra bed. The latter is the more popular use for the trundle drawer though.

What makes a trundle drawer convenient is that it has wheels on the bottom so it’s easy to pull from under the daybed. In effect, you automatically get two separate beds in one – the existing daybed and low trundle bed.

The low trundle bed is a good way to have an extra bed ready for any situation - be it for extra guests in your home or for a kid’s sleepover with friends. This accompanying furniture for a daybed is already a good space-saving investment. What’s even better is a trundle that can do more than just provide a separate low bed. And this is exactly what the other type of daybed trundle offers.

The other type of daybed trundle is the kind that pops up. Pop-up daybed trundles are more flexible than drawer daybed trundles. For one, it can be pulled up into a separate low bed (without the wheels, of course). Second, the pop-up trundle can be further propped up to the same level as the daybed and locked in place to make one big bed.

Depending on your preference and needs, there are two types of daybed trundles that can satisfy them. When you want a trundle that can work either as a storage area or a separate low bed, drawer trundles are the best accompanying furniture. But if you prefer to have the convenience of either having a low separate bed or turning your daybed into a big bed, then, pop-up daybed trundles can suit that penchant easily.
