Why You Should Purchase a Daybed for Your Child

December 30th, 2008 · No Comments

Daybeds are designed for two purposes—sitting and sleeping. Basically, a daybed looks like a wide-seated sofa that has a backrest for sitting, with the mattress wide enough for sleeping. A long board or rail is installed at one length of the bed to function as a backrest during the day, while two short boards are installed at its two widths to serve as armrests. Daybeds are ideal for a child’s room, particularly because it saves up space while serving dual purposes to the owner.

A child daybed is considered ideal especially when the child’s room is quite small. It comes in handy because it can fit in any right-angled corners with no movement restriction.

Usually, a child daybed becomes has a special feature that is commercially-available whenever a parent decides to purchase one. A child daybed is often accompanied by a smaller, lower bed that is on rollers or wheels, which can be stored underneath for extended sleeping capacity. With this, both children can share rooms with bigger space to move about during the day, of when they are usually active. The bed underneath can also be pulled out for additional guests whenever a slumber party with friends or cousins comes along. And when there is no dire need for an extended sleeping capacity, the bed underneath can be opted not to be purchased, or can be used as a storage space once the mattress is removed.

Daybeds usually differ in rails and board designs that are placed around the three sides of the bed. The rails can either be made of metal or wood. Solid wooden boards also vary according to details—some daybed boards have intricate French or Victorian detailing, while some have plain or minimal details for a modern look. Colors are available in neutral shades to easily match a theme or look of a particular room. Either way, many daybeds are designed accordingly to fit a customer’s individual preference, although it is notable that the designs may suit boys or girls in particular. A child daybed is usually available in twin sizes, and the bed underneath is a little bit smaller.

A daybed is greatly known for its helpful design in conserving space and maximizing purpose. Aside from that, a child daybed is also a piece of furniture that can accentuate and accessorize your child’s room as well. More importantly, your child can easily transform his or her daybed as a place for hanging out during the day and as a peaceful nest during the night.
