Daybeds are pieces of furnitures in which a lot of people does not decipher how these differ from a common futon or bed. Daybeds, as the name suggests are used for daytime sleep. This piece of furniture differ from a bed since it can be used as a sofa which is very ideal for a living room, dens, family rooms and bedrooms. It also differs from a futon since you cannot transform it from a couch to a bed. Daybeds are more decorative and pleasing in the eyes. They also have skirts, covers, comforters and throw pillows.

The frame of a daybed is highly different from that of a standard bed. Daybed frames are consist of a back with two arms which imitates a basic sofa structure. The two types of frame is the platform and the link spring. In a platform frame, a Bunkie board supports the mattress. A bunkie board is like a box spring but with not coil work and it is much thinner. It fits inside the frame to equally support the mattres. In the other hand, the link spring is made of metal grip that serves as a box spring which is then attached to the daybed frame in order to support the mattress. With this frame, there is a gap between the mattress and the frame for making and bedding the bed.

Daybeds may also have trundles. A trundle unit allows an extra mattress to placed underneath and can be pulled for an extra space for sleeping. You can opt for a pop-up trundle where the mattress is rolled up to the same level of the daybed and converts it to a king-sized daybed. You can also choose to have a pull out trundle unit where the mattress is rolled on wheels or gliders. These does not elevate the height of the daybed which then forces you to sleep at a lower level near the floor.

There are 4 kinds of daybeds that you can choose from according to your preference. The Canopy Daybed, Standard Daybed, Sleigh Daybed and Chaise Daybed. The Canopy is the most appealing type especially to teens and children because of its charming appearance. The standard comes in various number of styles and can be incorporated with a trundle unit. A sleigh daybed is designed in a more traditional. These are mostly inspired from the Victorian Era because of its classic lines. This is more on sophistication and elegance. The last type of daybed is the Chaise which is a very ideal place to sit and have a sleep as well. These are more contemporary and modern in appearance.
